ELLEN PARRISH PHOTOGRAPHY bio picture
  • Hi! Welcome to ELLENZILLA photography, and thanks for stopping by! My blog is a little bit business, and a little bit personal. My goal is to share with you the girl behind the lens, and give a better insight to my personal photography style.

I live in Houston, TX, though originally haled from Barnet, England. I love documenting anything I find beautiful in life. I'm obsessed with traveling and capturing my experiences, but capturing fleeting moments of happiness and love from others and sharing these memories with them is a gift I truly love to give. I specialize in portraiture and event photography, but I'm interested in all sorts of things, so please contact me for any reason! I'd love to know more about you, so be sure to say hi! I always love a new friend.

a day with delilah

meet delilah, one of the cutest, silliest, and most FUN little girls ever! i have known delilah since she was a teenie tiny, and even shot her newborn photos! she was gorgeous then, and has definitely grown into a beautiful little lady.

during our time together – mom really wanted some pictures of little dj in mom’s wedding dress. i loved the idea and thought ‘yes!’! i can just imagine having pictures like this now that i’m older and in love, and think that one day delilah will really, really cherish these photos. plus, mom has great taste! dj definitely rocked it.

and might i add that we also made cupcakes! umm yeah, so basically the best shoot ever. (look, it has everything to do with the fact that my sweet tooth dominates my life) and dj was even sweet enough to share with me. and then we went in her room and had even more fun – she drew me pictures, we had a tea party with some of her fluffy friends, and mom even told us a puppet story. it’s the life, i tell ya.

leslie - really cute ellen! i love the wedding dress! 🙂

Tom - She is adorable Lauren.

mr and mrs barrett

i am so excited to introduce to you mr and mrs barrett! meet the sweet, beautifully ethereal candus, and her husband; the kind, warm, and let’s-not-forget-to-mention handsome, james. i absolutely adore this couple, and you may remember their stunning engagement photos from our time together in early 2011, which you can reminisce with me on the photos here. their engagements honestly changed my life. we approached our session together as an adventure, with no real spots picked out in advance, and just drove around to shoot where felt right. only the right kind of couple can shoot like this, and they were definitely it. our session together was nothing short of magical, and it is one i will cherish forever.

and to no surprise, their wedding shared the same sentiment. i arrived to find owls, birds, handmade signs, and greenery everywhere. it was clear that lots of time, thought, and personal style went into creating this wedding day fairytale landscape. and lucky for me, i personally love that sort of style, and was immediately over the moon with the abundant gorgeous scenery! you guys know my obsession for owls, and they were everywhere. i mean, my heart was melting already and the day had only just begun. i’ll have you know that candus did all of the decorating herself (because she seriously rules) – teamed up with the help of etsy and her impeccable creativity. in short, i was blown away. the wedding was located at candus’ father’s church, where he also played a huge role in the wedding of his daughter by being their pastor. the ceremony was dimly lit, which resulted in a very personal, intimate feel – and almost made you feel like it was outdoors at dusk (despite feeling nice and air conditioned in the middle of august). before i knew it, the reception was coming to a close, and they ended their wedding celebration with a release of doves. smiles were everywhere i looked from my adoring couple, to myself, to all the gathered guests – family and friends alike, and i can only imagine the doves were smiling inside too. my adorable pair drove off in their vintage 1930’s (model a?) ford off into the sunset, just the way a true fairytale should end.

i invite you to relive their magical wedding day with me through some of my favorite pictures outlining their fairytale! please press play, and enjoy!

Christy Tucker - Oh my goodness, you already know I love this! : )

ellenzilla - i know girl, it’s so up our alley!!!

a pumpkin tutorial

a little how-to, from p is for party and i to you!

i met up with the ingeniously crafty christi bennett of p is for party last year to shoot this little how-to on glamming up your pumpkin – because your pumpkin deserves it. i didn’t share it last year, which is just oh-so-rude of me, and i sincerely apologize. so i am going to make it up to you, and share it with you right now! you are totally welcome in advance, because this how-to is quick, and super simple. yeah, that is exactly the kind of DIY project for me, because i’m quite an impatient creature. all you need is a pumpkin, a pen, some upholstery tacks, and a little bit of time (and not even much of that). so easy! enjoy!

tools needed:

  • pumpkin
  • pen
  • upholstery tacks
  • time
  • ribbon (optional)

steps:

  1. think about what you would like your design to be on your pumpkin. we chose lines accentuating the pumpkin, and christi’s family initial. you could use your imagination, even a stencil could work!
  2. draw on your pumpkin the design you would like to ‘bedazzle’ on your pumpkin with your pen. this doesn’t have to be perfect because the tacts are larger than the line itself.
  3. place your tacks along the lines of your design, one by one, so that they are touching on each side. you could use anything instead of the tacks as well. if you’re feeling crafty you could use some gems and some strong glue.
  4. tie a little bow on the  for additional cuteness. (optional)
  5. voila! now you have a classed up, sassed up pumpkin to show off to all your neighbors and your pals on instagram.
